Do I Really Have to Pay My Late Fee?

So you forgot to pay a bill on time and now you are faced with a late fee. These late fees are never fun, and does anybody really like to pay them? It is even possible to believe that this late fee is not fair and you should not pay it. Do you even have a case to not pay this late fee, or should you just suck it up and pay? Late fees are never fun, but they are a fact of life now days.

Can I Deny a Late Fee?

First of all, you usually have a bit of time before you are charged a late fee. They generally wait 30 days before they actually issue you a late fee. So you do not have to worry about a late fee if you are a couple of days late. This is a relief for a lot of people who may wait a few more days because that payday has yet to roll around.

Now a lot of you will want to hold firm and fight that late fee. When you decide this is the route for you, you truly must ask yourself if it is worth your time and energy to fight. The late fee will generally be no more than $30. Granted, this is a good amount, especially if you had trouble paying the original bill. If you deny that late fee then you will notice that it continues to pop up on your bill. You will not be able to get away from that fee. You may think that they will get tired and give up after a while, but actually the opposite is true.

All they have to do is continue to add the amount to your bill. It is really no trouble for them. It can become more trouble for you though if you deny this payment. This payment can grow, so instead of having to pay $30, now you may have to pay $60. This amount will just go up until you are finally forced to pay. After a while this annoyance will become too much too handle, and it will develop to be more than just an annoyance.

Pay that Late Fee

In the end you need to pay, and it should happen sooner than later. You might think you are going to stick to “the man” and not pay this late fee, but that is not the best move. The best thing you can do is pay the fee, move on, and make sure you do not pay your bills late again. This is the best way you can get this whole late fee trouble behind you and make sure it does not come back any time soon. It may not be fun, and it may not be something you ever want to do, but paying the late fee is something that is good to pay and just get it over with.
